I am part of the AWM mentor network, which pairs mentors (men and women) with girls and women who are interested in pursuing careers in mathematics. The network involves people of all ages and of a wide variety of interests. On their website, you can request a mentor, request to be a mentor, and find more information about the AWM’s efforts.
Maria Gommel and I co-organized the 11th annual Sonia Kovalevsky Day at the University of Iowa in 2016 with Dr. Tong Li. In 2017, we organized the parent and teacher panel of SK Day with Ruqiah Sabree. You can find more information here about SK Day.
During August 2015, I had the opportunity to assist Maggy Tomova with her summer camp for local low-income high school students in Iowa City. We got to talk about lots of fun topics like the Seven Bridges of Konigsberg and prime numbers, and less fun but also important topics such as applying for college.
